Agriculture in the world

Agriculture is one of the leading sectors in the world economy as a whole. The purpose of agriculture is the cultivation and production of food products to meet the needs of the population.

There are two main directions of agriculture: animal husbandry and plant breeding.

Geography of the world economy

In each separate country there is a definite branch of agriculture (animal husbandry or plant breeding). It depends on the location and natural factors. The latter have a great influence on the character of specialization.

Leaders in the production of agricultural products are countries: PRC, USA, Canada, Brazil. Russia holds the first place in the production of wheat.

In developing countries, more than 60% of the population is engaged in agricultural production, and in more developed this indicator is lower and, as a rule, does not exceed 10%.

Modern agriculture in the world

In crop production, as the branches of agriculture, there are several directions:

  • vegetable growing;
  • farming;
  • lugovodstvo;
  • fruit.

In turn, in animal husbandry are distinguished:

  • large-scale cattle breeding;
  • sheep;
  • pig breeding;
  • animal husbandry.

In agriculture, a huge value is the processing enterprises and equipment, without which it is impossible to store the received agricultural products.
