The 18th edition of the Agroprodmash’2013 International Exhibition for Machinery, Equipment and Ingredients for the Food Processing Industry held at Expocentre Fairgrounds from 7 to 11 October was highly appreciated by professionals.

Pursuant to the key figures the Agroprodmash’2013 Exhibition is recognized to be the best in its history. This year on the exhibition space of 23,409 sq net m new equipment and developments were displayed by 803 companies from 36 countries. The Agroprodmash’2013 trade show was attended by 18,780 people, 95% of whom were industry specialists. The total number of visits is 25,120 (according to RussCom IT Systems – exhibition statistics audit).

This year the exhibition hosted five national pavilions, Germany organized the most large-scale group stand. National pavilion of Denmark was the exhibition premiere. Delegation from China became one-third as large as it was last year. France and Spain returned to the exhibition with their national pavilions. For the first time the exhibition welcomed companies from New Zealand. Russia was presented by 476 companies.

At the official opening ceremony Sergey Bednov, Director General of Expocentre ZAO, said that over the years of its existence the exhibition had acquired a high international status and established a reputation as the most prestigious forum in Russia. According to the National Ratings approved by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, the Agroprodmash exhibition was recognized as the Best Exhibition of Russia in 2011-2012 in all categories of Food Industry: Equipment and Ingredients. Sergey Bednov said, “I am positive than the Agroprodmash’2013 exhibition will make a strong contribution to modernization and renovation of Russian enterprises of food processing industry.”

This year one of the key features of the show is an increased number of high-tech solutions for food production. This trend is caused by the fact that in terms of growing competition manufacturers have to look for more high performance technologies enabling to increase the volume of production, reduce production cost in order to increase profit.

For the sake of visitors and exhibitors’ convenience and working efficiency, the Agroprodmash’2013 exhibition was organized according to salons. 16 theme salons presented the whole manufacturing cycle – from raw material processing to getting a finished packaged product. This year all the salons and thematic areas demonstrated an upward trend.

The Salon of Equipment for Processing Meat, Poultry, Fish and Seafood, being a dominant of the exhibition for many years, presented ideas and innovations of about 180 leading global producers of equipment and technologies for meat, poultry and fish processing from 21 countries. The range of equipment covered all areas of the production of meat and sausage products from slaughter to packaging of finished products.

The Salon of Ingredients, Additives and Spices is one of the fastest growing ones. This year more than 70 companies – market leaders – participated in it. Companies from Russia, Germany, China and the United States have significantly increased their presence at the show. One of the trends of the salon, the core of which are the companies demonstrating ingredients for meat processing, is a growing number of companies offering the market ingredients for dairy, bakery and confectionary industries as well as for beverage industry. Moreover, this year the show saw developments in the field of making new ingredients for production of healthy food (vitamins, micro- and microelements, prebiotics and food fibers).

The Salon of Confectionery and Bakery Equipment got bigger by 15% compared to the last year and moved to Pavilion No.3 of Expocentre Fairgrounds. This year the exposition accommodated 75 participants from 13 countries. One of the landmark features of the salon was an increase in number of the equipment made in Russia at the show. Growth of visitors’ interest in the salon is caused not only by extension of a range of presented equipment but also implementation of new forms of its presentation. This year, at the stand of their Russian partners from GolfStream, British engineers held a masterclass on how to use depositing machines.

The Salon of Package Solutions for the Food Industry, with 106 companies from 12 countries participating in it, showed a solid growth. Equipment for multiple and unit packaging (including packages with thermosetting), equipment for packaging pallets and stretch wrapping equipment became the focus of attention. Flexography and packages for ready meals directions were presented for the first time. One of the trends of the exhibition is a growing number of companies making ready packages; and manufacturers are focused on such parameters as personalization, safety and environmental friendliness of the package.

The Milk and Cheese Production Salon has grown by 10% compared to the last year and featured more than 70 companies from 10 countries. Growing popularity of a healthy lifestyle facilitates the salon development. Another tendency is a consumers’ preference for factory packaged milk and milk products, that was reflected at the show.

The Salon of Equipment for the Production and Processing of Fruit and Vegetables has become bigger by 20% that is stipulated by a strong dynamics of development of the Russian market of fruit and vegetables, frozen as well. Equipment for processing of fruit and vegetables was shown by major manufacturers from Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Russia.

An upward trend was also demonstrated by the Salon of Refrigerating and Freezing Equipment, Salon of Beverages and Liquid Food Production. Bottling, Salon of Sanitation and Hygiene of Food Production, the Agroprodmash-Complekt Exhibition and Salon. Basic machinery, components and materials for the food processing industry. Pumps and pumping equipment.

The project Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions, designed to reduce the number of counterfeit products showcased at trade shows, was first realized at the Agroprodmash’2013 exhibition. Legal experts consulted visitors to the exhibition. They told them about the existing practice and IP protection, rendered legal assistance in resolving conflicts where IP infringements are involved.

The congress part of the show is arranged according to the actual needs of the market and partly stimulated by the development of theme salons. This year there was a number of premiers such as the Industry Forum on the Confectionery and Bakery Market in the Changing Conditions organized by the Confectionery and Bakery Production Journal (Industry News Publishing House), the Conference on Modern Refrigerating Technologies and Equipment for Production and Storage of Raw Food Ingredients and Finished Products, organized by the Russian Union of the Refrigerating Industry (Rossoyuzkholodprom), the Round-table Discussion on Hands-on Advice on the Management of Intellectual Property, organized by DAT Brand-Control System.

There took place the traditional International Conference on the Russian Food and Food Processing Industry as Part of the State Programme for 2013-2020, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the Agroexposervice Firm, the 3rd International Meat Congress, held by the Gorbatov Meat Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the 8th International Forum on Innovative Technologies and Equipment for the Dairy Industry, organized by Imperia Congress and Exhibition Company. Among the pressing issues are the challenges caused by the global economic situation and Russia’s WTO entry.

Participants could attend seminars, master classes and competitions. The Recruitment Centre operated through the whole exhibition period.  

The next 19th edition of the Agroprodmash international exhibition will run at Expocentre Fairgrounds from 6 to 10 October 2014.
