09 / 10 / 2019

The international Digital Agroindustry Forum 2019 was a central event of the Agroprodmash 2019 exhibition. It was organised by the Digital Economy Development Fund with the support of the Russian Government, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, the Soyuzmoloko Association, and Expocentre AO. Rosselkhozbank was the General Sponsor.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Gordeyev said in his greetings to the participants in the Digital Agroindustry Forum 2019, "this is a good opportunity to gather all parties to the process on the same venue and discuss major aspects of the agroindustry digitalisation with due account of the opinion of business, the Internet industry, and experts as well as of government needs."

The Forum's plenary session was dedicated to the development of digital transformation of the agro-industrial sector within the framework of the Russian digital economy. Maxim Chereshnev, a representative of the Digital Economy Development Fund and Chairman of the Council for Foreign Trade Development, was the session moderator. The discussion involved Council Chairman of the Digital Economy Development Fund Herman Klimenko, Director of the Rosselkhozbank Centre for Financial Technologies and Transformations Yelena Baturova, Russian Venture Company Special Projects Director Alexey Frolov, Voskresenskoye Agricultural Company Head Pavel Romanov, and other experts.

The implementation of digital technologies in the agro-industrial sector will drastically improve labour productivity and cut agricultural risks, Pavel Klimenko said. He is sure that digitalisation will create a major competitive edge of the Russian agrarian sector amid fierce rivalry.

In the opinion of Yelena Baturova, agriculture could be efficient, and some of Russian agrotechnical companies have already proven successful. She told the audience about Rosselkhobank's project of a digital eco-system supporting agricultural enterprises, primary small and medium businesses. The launch of the eco-system uniting companies, which are ready to support projects and start-ups in the agro-industrial sector, is due next year.

In the words of Alexey Frolov, the appearance of Russian agro-giants will require establishment of funds, provision of allocations, engagement of big corporations, and selection of professional management companies which can invest and test promising startups.

The viewpoint of Russian agrarian business was presented by Pavel Romanov, who highlighted the areas of development of digital services necessary for solving current problems of domestic agriculture.

The Forum included thematic sections dedicated to the concept of smart agriculture and food processing industry, and end-to-end technologies in the agro-industrial sector. There were presentations of digital agro-industrial solutions and startups, and a contest of innovative projects.
