Russian agricultural industry increases milk, meat, fruit and vegetable production

The Russian agriculture industry has a strong trend towards development of dairy cattle breeding, dairy processing, poultry and pig breeding, beef cattle breeding, horticulture, and fruit processing.

Recently, Russian Agriculture Minister Nikolay Fedorov has approved a list of investment projects related to development of the agricultural industry as part of the State Programme of Agricultural Industry Development and Regulation of Market of Agricultural Products, Raw Materials and Food for 2013-2020.

The list includes 464 investment projects in the sphere of dairy cattle breeding, dairy processing, pig and poultry breeding, beef cattle breeding, protected horticulture, construction of vegetable stores, and fruit processing for a total loan amount of 265,937.14 mln rubles.

Later during the meeting with members of the Council of the Federation, the Minister announced that additional 568.2 bln rubles had been allocated from the federal budget to implement import substitution. It will help to increase production of meat and poultry (carcass weight) up to 10 mln tonnes by 2020. Capital increase of Rosagroleasing and Russian Agricultural Bank is intended to help farmers to obtain equipment and financial resources. According to the Press Office of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, it is expected to provide up to 50 bln rubles to support the agriculture industry under a programme of high priority measures for sustainable economic development and social stability in 2015.

According to the Russian National Exhibition Rating, the main place to search for solutions and to sign contracts for procurement of food processing equipment in Russia is the Agroprodmash exhibition.

In 2014 Agroprodmash welcomed 762 companies from 36 countries and 19,155 visitors from 60 countries and more than 1,000 cities and towns from all over Russia. According to the Russian Public Opinion Research Center, 67% of the visitors, whose aim is to study the market and search for new partners, attend only Agroprodmash. Survey responses show that 80% of the exhibitors and 91% of the visitors reach their goals during the exhibition.

A large number of applications to the 20th edition of the Agroprodmash exhibition proves that the Russian agriculture industry will see many innovative food processing technologies and equipment at Expocentre Fairgrounds in October 2015.
